AIA Shanghai is currently taking necessary action to establish the organization as an NGO. In the meantime, we’ve held events in conjunction with other organizations and established new committees that will host events throughout this year 2024.

As the Chapter is in the process of applying for NGO status, we have not been able to organize any events under the AIA Shanghai name. On June 9, we hosted Fighting Climate Change: Biophilic Environmental Design with Wood, an online lecture focusing on the benefits of specifying wood to fight climate change. Our speakers, James Lu and Filippo Gabbiani, are two active practicing architects based in Shanghai.

We concluded 2021 with a tour of Shanghai’s new landmark Qiantan Taikoo Li, the first retail center developed by Swire Properties that promotes wellness as a key attribute of its design.
