Summary of Events
We concluded 2021 with a tour of Shanghai’s new landmark Qiantan Taikoo Li, the first retail center developed by Swire Properties that promotes wellness as a key attribute of its design. We thank the American Hard Wood Export Council for sponsoring this event, Swire and 5+Design for the presentation and tour.
Our chapter kicked off 2022's first Happy Hour + Talk in Beijing on February 25. This session presented R-CELLS: ‘A Lifetime well-living home’, a solar house prototype developed by TEAM Tianjin University plus, a multidisciplinary team led by Yang Wei, Ren Jun, Miao Zhantang and several other professors. Located in Desheng Village, Zhangjiakou, R-CELLS was a finalist of the 3rd Solar Decathlon China Competition.
On February 26, we completed our first Animal Shelter Design Competition with a public auction in Shaankang Li. We appreciate the support of See Bamboo who had produced all the winning design works. We are proud to raise funds and awareness for the Second Chance Animal Aid, a non-profit in Shanghai that helps rescued pets find foster homes.
Our vice president Anderson Hsieh and member Vikki Lew took part in the ESG Topical Forum organized by the ULI and supported by AIA Shanghai | Beijing on March 10. The forum focused on net zero building, retrofitting, and the social component of ESG.
