AIA Latin America Update - December 2024

MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

As we approach the end of this remarkable year, I would like to highlight several significant achievements that have marked the history of our section.

In March 2024, we proudly established AIA Latin America, a milestone that allowed us to further consolidate the presence and impact of both AIA and AIA International across the region. In September, our Inaugural Board Meeting took place in Medellín, a historic moment where the foundation of our section's structure and activities was laid. During this meeting, we planned our actions for 2025, aiming to support membership, foster member engagement, and promote local architecture.

Additionally, at the AIA International Conference in Hong Kong, we had the pleasure of signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between AIA International, AIA Latin America, and CAU/BR. This agreement is a testament to our commitment to strengthening professional and educational cooperation among our entities.

In 2025, President-elect Jorge Arditti will take the lead on AIA Latin America as the new President, and Jose Salinas, Costa Rica Representative and AIA International Adjunct Director, will be the President-elect for 2026. Jorge Arditti, who served as Mexico Country Representative and Chair of the remarkably successful AIA International Mexico Conference held in 2023, brings dynamism and global reach to our section.

Wishing you all a Merry Christmas and a happy New Year,

Gustavo Ribeiro, AIA Latin America President 2024
