VISIT TO MEDELLÍN DESIGN FAIR – FIRST AIA LATIN AMERICA MEETING

The AIA Latin America section held its first in-person meeting during the Design Fair Powered by IMM Cologne in Medellín, from September 19 to 21, 2024. This marked a significant moment since the section’s creation in May 2024.

The event was attended by key leaders: Architect Gustavo Ribeiro (Brazil CR - AIA Latin America President), Architect Jorge Arditti (Mexico CR - AIA Latin America Vice President), Architect José Luis Salinas (Costa Rica CR - AIA Latin America Secretary), Architect Miriam Addor (Brazil CR), and Architect Marco Praga (Colombia CR).

Throughout the event, the AIA Latin America representatives engaged in various events and presentations and working groups with representatives from different regional entities and associations, fostering collaborative efforts aligned with the section’s mission. A verbal agreement for collaboration was established with ACAI (Colombian Association of Interior Architecture) to work together on activities and communication at both national and regional levels. The team also initiated discussions with Spanish entities, including InfoMurcia, to explore and deepen future partnerships.

At the event's international pavilion, AIA International was proudly featured as a sponsor in all the presentations and discussion panels. Architect Marco Praga participated in a discussion panel on the strategic importance of Latin America in the hospitality industry, officially announcing the recent formation of the AIA Latin America Section.

Outside the fair, the AIA Latin America representatives conducted a working session, setting tasks and defining objectives to guide the section’s work. These plans will soon be shared with other members for feedback and approval.
