Inside Out – Outside In
I was part of the SE ASIA 2022 Fall Symposium as a representative of Vietnam. My job was to invite an architect with a pioneering spirit and introduce them to the international AIA community. M.A. Hoang Manh was chosen to represent Vietnam in this conference with his lecture “Inside Out – Outside In”. He is the founder and CEO of MIA Design Studio, who won an award for Best Sustainable Building Design 2022.
Policy Workshop on the Mekong Delta - August 1st
I was invited to a Policy Conference on “The development of the Mekong Delta from an Integrated Regional Planning framework” on August 1st in Can Tho city organized by the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI). The Mekong Delta is encountering great opportunities for change. It is crucial to cooperate to seize the chance for a speedy, yet sustainable development.
UAH Students Design Award - July 30th
University of Architecture in Ho Chi Minh City (UAH)
On behalf of AIA International in Vietnam, I was very glad to receive an invitation from UAH to present an award to 6 students with excellent graduation projects selected by the school’s graduation committee. Additionally, I also donated a small prize, which was the book “Southern Vietnamese Modernist Architecture” by Mel Schenck, to these award-winning students.
Workshop: Saigon – Alley & People - July 21st
I had the opportunity to speak to a community of young architects in Saigon about the topic “Saigon – Alleys and People”. As a person who has lived and worked in Saigon for a long time, I have a deep passion for studying Saigon’s architectural heritage from the French colonial period to modern and contemporary times. Through this seminar, I wanted to inspire and raise awareness of Saigon’s culture and architecture from past to present.
