Event Description

Architecture contributes to climate change but it is also uniquely placed to help reshape the world in which we live.  How do we transform the built environment’s negative climate impact into a net positive one? The AIA International Region is excited to announce a one-day virtual conference on April 26th on how the profession can move towards a sustainable future.  Join us to explore how architecture can provide solutions to environmental crises, respond proactively to the call for climate action, and help create a net positive built environment for all.

The format of the conference is a 24-hour, around-the-clock, around-the-world virtual event.  There will be a mixture of talks, building tours, and panel discussions with speakers worldwide.  There will be extended Q&A to maximize audience participation.

Attendance is free and open to all, whether you are an AIA member or not. All sessions will be available on-demand for a month following the conference day. AIA members can receive continuing education credit.

Speakers at the forefront of sustainability from various backgrounds, including architects, engineers, consultants and academics, will examine strategies and approaches for implementing meaningful change. Keynotes will include Ed Mazria, FAIA (CEO of Architecture 2030 & AIA 2021 Gold Medalist), and Ken Yeang, Hon FAIA.

The conference will continue the Women in Architecture series, produced in partnership with the RIBA Sri Lanka. The UIA will also be sharing their sustainability expertise both in practice and in education.
