Description
Join us on Saturday, November 9, for a special lecture in English by onishimaki+hyakudayuki / o+h titled “Architecture, A Place to be Loved”. They will introduce their works and their exhibition currently on view at Galley Ma in Tokyo (on view until November 24).
This lecture will explore the concept of architecture as part of a 'living whole,' emphasizing its deep connections with people, nature, and time. It suggests that building is a collaborative process that develops architecture suited to its environment. The lecture will go through the following themes:
Whole of Life: Architecture is interwoven with the act of living, emerging through collaboration and shaped by context.
Spatial Totality: Architecture creates an internal world while also being part of the larger external environment. It links these realms, forming a continuum that connects various spatial scales.
Temporal Totality: Architecture exists across time, influenced by the past and the future. Each material carries historical significance, encouraging us to create spaces that resonate with all temporal dimensions.
Irreplaceability of Existence: Viewing architecture as a living entity fosters a deeper appreciation that transcends function and performance, embracing imperfections and nurturing the relationship between architecture and nature.
