Eligibility: Professionals and Students. Students must be full time registered college students.
ASAI invites its members—professional and student illustrators from around the globe - to take part in its annual Architecture in Perspective (AIP) Competition - an annual juried competition that recognizes the world’s best architectural illustrations.
Professional Category
The Professional Competition contains two Sections: The Rendering Section and The Observational Section.
The Rendering Section focuses on subject matter that is unbuilt, such as proposed buildings and environments, self-commissioned works, or imaginary scenarios.
The Observational Section includes field sketches, plein-air drawings, and depictions of architectural subjects that are wholly existent at the time the work is executed.
Awards include:
• Hugh Ferriss Memorial Prize: “Best in Show”
• Best Formal Rendering
• Best Informal Rendering – informal illustration or sketch
• Best Observational – sketch
• Thematic Award: “ARTificial Intelligence” – however you interpret, AI is not necessary to use
• Juror Award – each juror’s favorite
• Awards of Excellence – selected for exhibition and catalog
• Member`s Choice Award – as selected by ASAI members
Student Category
The AIP Student Competition is open to student ASAI members who are registered in a full-time academic program. Submitted work may include Formal and Informal renderings, and illustrations of built, unbuilt and imaginary architectural works.
Competition entry is free for Students, as long as they register as an ASAI member.
Awards include:
• Henry Sorenson Student Award – most outstanding student illustration
• Student Juror Awards – each juror’s favorite
• Student Awards of Distinction – selected for exhibition and catalog

Cost
Students: Free, but they need to register as an ASAI member. Students can submit up to five entries.
Professionals: They must be an ASAI member. Each member can submit one submission at no cost. Additional submissions can be purchased. See website for additional details.
Awards:
All award winners will receive an Award Certificate.
The winner of the Hugh Ferriss Memorial Prize will receive a two sided framed Certificate with Artwork and Medallion, their artwork will appear on the cover of the 2025 ASAI catalog and used in various other locations, receive free ASAI membership for one year, and will receive free registration for the 2025 Architecture in Perspective Conference in Tokyo. Winner of the Henry Sorenson Student Award will receive free registration to the Architecture in Perspective Conference in Tokyo, receive a Certificate of Excellence, and be featured in our exhibition and catalog. Other award winners will receive additional benefits as described on the ASAI website.
