A new firm, INNOVATION Architecture, has been created in Coral Gables, Florida, by members of the AIA International Component. This unique initiative stems from relationships and activities within the Component. The firm’s Principals are Gustavo Ribeiro, Intl. Assoc. AIA, President of AIA Latin America, Steven Miller, FAIA, RIBA, and Ed Mayer II, LEED AP, AIA. Together, they bring an average of over 40 years of experience as architects and planners worldwide.

Steven and Ed have extensive experience working in New York, across the United States, and in the Middle East with projects in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Riyadh and other cities in KSA, Doha, Iraq, Syria, Egypt, Jordan, Pakistan, India, Tanzania, and Nigeria. Steven has also spent over 17 years working in the UK and Prague, with projects in those countries as well as Italy, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, China and Indonesia. Gustavo has been a partner at SITO Arquitetura in Brazil for 30 years, with projects in Brazil, Cape Verde, and Equatorial Guinea. He will continue his relationship with that well-established firm.
As to their relationships with the AIA, Steven has served as President of AIA Continental Europe, founder of AIA Middle East, and founder of the International Region. He is currently a member of AIACE, on the AIA Global Practice Committee, and the AIA International Representative to the College of Fellows. Gustavo is the founder and President of AIA Latin America, At-large Director of AIA International, and a licensed architect in Brazil. Ed was an original board member of AIA Middle East, currently a member of AIA New York City, and will join AIA MIami. He is also a board member of ACE New Jersey.

While being a new firm, our professional experience spans a vast range of time, building technologies, and markets. We currently have major projects including a marina, wellness center, resort hotel and condominiums in the U.S. Virgin Islands, as well as residential work in Miami. Additionally, the firm specializes in the planning, use, and unique application of steel volumetric modular systems. Steven is also a professor at the University of Miami School of Architecture, teaching across graduate disciplines of adaptive reuse, hospitality, real estate, and urbanism.
The firm has substantial experience in urban planning, hospitality, all forms of residential and mixed-use design, and adaptive re-use of existing structures, working in multiple countries. INNOVATION Architecture is available for projects throughout the Americas, Middle East, and Africa. We welcome joint venture relationships with architects located in most countries of the world.
