Elizabeth Chu Richter, FAIA, is CEO of Richter Architects based in Corpus Christi, Texas. A recognized leader in the profession, the firm received the prestigious Architecture Firm Award from the Texas Society of Architects in 2011.
Elizabeth believes in the power of architecture to impact lives and elevate the human spirit. She has twice chaired the AIA Gold Medal/Firm Award advisory jury, and has juried numerous national and regional design awards.
For decades, Elizabeth has championed raising public appreciation of architecture through award-winning designs, writing, and speaking.
She conceived and co-produced The Shape of Texas, a statewide radio series on architecture broadcast on NPR-affiliate stations throughout Texas.
The series ran for 11 years, airing over 500 episodes and reached millions.A Fellow of the American Institute of Architects and an Honorary Fellow of the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada, Elizabeth was elected to serve as the national AIA President in 2015.
As the 91st President, Elizabeth holds the distinction of being the fourth woman to have served as national president in the AIA's then 158 year history with over 88,000 members.
As a civic leader,Elizabeth served as Chairman of the Board of Directors of the San Antonio Branch of the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, and on the Governing Board of Christus Spohn Health System.
