AIA , Founding Partner, STUDIO DOHO; AIA Shanghai Emerging Professionals Committee Chair
Jason Holland is a licensed architect in Alabama with over 10 years of experience in China. He co-founded Shanghai-based STUDIO DOHO with Xin Dogterom in 2016 which specializes in interiors for F&B, Retail and Office projects across China. DOHO was awarded in Silver in the 2019 World Interior News (WIN) Awards for Best Emerging Interiors Practice and has been shortlisted for the 2020 awards. In addition DOHO has been listed in the AD100 Young Architects China, representing the top 100 emerging practice in China.
Prior to STUDO DOHO, Jason worked in the Shanghai office of Atkins and then served as a design project manager in various roles as a client representative and site-based architect for international clients building key projects in China. His almost four years of full-time site-based work in China provided a unique perspective to launch DOHO and ensure projects are delivered to a high standard.
Jason received a Bachelor of Architecture degree from Auburn University, where he also studied at the internationally recognized Rural Studio as a second year student. Additionally he was awarded a FIPSE Grant to study for a semester in Mexico City. He also interned at Yestermorrow Design/Build School in Vermont and was a summer intern at Studio Daniel Libeskind in NYC. Upon graduation he received an AIAS travel grant to study natural building in a rural Costa Rican village. In 2009 he undertook a 4000 mile bicycle trip across the USA with an organization called Bike and Build, which serves to raise funds and awareness for affordable housing in the USA.
Jason is an active member of the AIA Shanghai Chapter where he served as the 2019 Treasurer and is currently the 2020 Treasurer. He also created the budget and managed the finances for the 2019 IR Conference in Shanghai. In 2020 he also led the effort application effort for COF Grant for Emerging Professionals which was awarded in full to the Shanghai Chapter to launch our Emerging Professionals component.
Jason and Xin welcomed their young son Noah in 2020 which has added a new and exciting dynamic to their work and personal lives.
