Thierry Paret is an award-winning design architect with extensive management experience in the United States, Europe, and the Middle East. As Vice President of the New York City School Construction Authority's Architecture and Engineering Department, Thierry oversees all design work related to the renovation and upgrade of the NYC Department of Education’s portfolio, comprising approximately 1,500 school buildings. He leads a team of approximately 300 architects, designers, engineers, and administrators responsible for designing 8 to 10 new schools or additions annually. His mandate includes bringing design excellence to the Authority’s programs, which are part of a $19 billion capital plan. This plan supports the nation’s largest unified school system, serving approximately one million students.

Before joining the NYCSCA in August 2023, Thierry managed the IBI Group-Arcadis New York State Practice with offices in New York City and Binghamton. He has also led design studios at international architectural firms, served as a Design Advisor to the government of Qatar, and was the Campus Architect for the renowned King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) in Saudi Arabia.

Thierry is a registered architect in multiple U.S. jurisdictions, the United Kingdom, and the Republic of Ireland. His diverse project portfolio includes university campuses, life science facilities, corporate headquarters, and mixed-use developments, with a strong focus on sustainability. He has served on numerous boards and committees, including as a Director-at-Large on the American Institute of Architects’ National Board, founding President of AIA International and AIA Middle East, and member of NCARB's International Competency Workgroup. Thierry is currently on NOMA’s candidate nomination committee.

He was elevated to the American Institute of Architects’ prestigious College of Fellows in 2014, an honor held by only 2.5% of AIA members, and is also an AIA Richard Upjohn Fellow.
