AIA Middle East - Pandemic Resilient Cities
Event Description
Dense and fragmented cities are the product of rapid urbanisation. At the same time urban health has been negatively impacted by socio-economic and spatial urban segregation. These two aspects turned cities into hot-spots for the spread of the virus. This is clearly an urban crisis, in need of an urgent systemic approach.
The COVID-19 outbreak brings out the urgent need to re-think the idea of "primary" or "basic" services, as this is at the core of the inequalities and segregation.
