Honorary Fellows Keynote Lecture - Jo Noero: Remaking the South African City
Event Description
Three projects recently completed by Noero Architects examine ways of dealing with the crisis of the South African city which is wrapped around issues of inequality, poverty and lack of opportunity. These problems stem from the legacy of colonialism and apartheid.
The design of the projects was completed before the arrival of the virus in South Africa in March 2020. All three projects focus on ways of dealing with Global Warming. Interestingly, in hindsight the strategies developed also have application in dealing with the problems thrown up by the Pandemic.
