The program will be divided into three sections with speaker Ellen Lou discussing “Heritage Preservation and Urban Regeneration”. She will be followed by Anderson Hsieh who will discuss “Transit-Oriented Development (TOD)”. A panel discussion will follow.

Just three decades ago, less than 20 percent of the population lived in cities. Today, 60 percent of the population call themselves urbanites. Recently, national development initiatives have turned their focus away from speedy urbanization and now seek to create environmentally friendly cities with strong cultural identities.

Over the last three years, urban regeneration and transit-oriented development have become the prevalent development model. As land supplies dwindle and connectivity becomes essential, a new ethos has emerged that promotes efficiency, inclusivity and sustainable sustainability.
