AIA Hong Kong - The Future of Urban Parks
Event Description
Traditional parks in Hong Kong are lacking imagination and have received many complaints from local citizens. Design Trust formed a working force with local government, citizens, designers and architects to curate a series of discussions, symposiums, workshops and prototypes to improve urban parks in Hong Kong. Many ideas challenge the convention of play and how it can make the park more challenging, inclusive and healthy. Out of the several locations, the site in Tsuen Wan, Hong Kong is under construction and is partially funded by the charity for the concept design and ideation process. Marisa Yiu, AIA, Co-Founder/ Executive Director of Design Trust will discuss how this this bottom-up process can become a template for citizen architects to bring changes to at-risk neighborhoods and families.
