This event is organized as part of the carbon partnership program between Dow and the International Olympic Committee (IOC), where the two organizations leverage the inspirational platform of sport and the power of science to change how business operates as usual. Dow works with businesses and organizations to identify opportunities to use Dow solutions to lower their carbon footprint and contribute the resultant carbon reductions to balance the IOC’s operational carbon footprint while helping to create a low-carbon future. In the built environment, the program brings together leading façade and construction companies, engineers, architects and property developers to design and build differently so that together, we positively impact the environment. Participants in the program gain knowledge in carbon accounting and tracking, a way to quantify their efforts towards helping address the climate change challenge, and a competitive differentiation through working with Dow, the Official Chemistry Company of the Olympic Movement. The American Institute of Architects, International Region (AIA-IR) is helping Dow and the IOC to reach this goal by increasing knowledge of low carbon solutions among AIA-IR members and offering exemplary projects the opportunity to contribute their carbon savings to the Dow-IOC carbon partnership.
