Chen Xi is an architect with experiences working in Asia, US and Europe during the past 15 years. Mr. Chen received his Master of Architecture from Harvard Graduate School of Design and a B. Arch. from Tsinghua University (Beijing). He worked at Bjarke Ingels Group (BIG) in Copenhagen and Steven Holl Architects in New York from 2009-2017.
In 2017, Chen Xi founded his practice ATELIER XI in New York and is currently based in Shenzhen, China.
Focusing on public and cultural realm at various scales, Chen Xi and ATELIER XI aspires to create spaces that bring unique poetry and profoundness to contemporary urban and rural environments. Chen Xi and ATELIER XI’s recent projects received AIA Small Project Awards (2021), AIA Shanghai | Beijing Architecture Merit Award (2021), Frame Awards (2021), The Architectural Review Emerging Architecture Awards Finalist (2022) and ArchDaily Best New Practices (2023).
